Deor V brakes

Odd one.

I bought two sets of Deor V brakes to fit to my bike when I give it to my son. The two boxes are just the same, except that one is marked 'front' and one 'rear'!!

I've looked at them and they both look the same, which is what I would've thought...

the brake blocks are in different positions. ie less at the front of them. See?

It's a bit like C & A pants.

Some V-brakes come with two pipe sections (one for the front and one for the rear), so that the brake can be used as a front or a rear. I suspect that your boxes only come with one pipe, so they are front or rear specific.

That could be it, I didn't look at both pipes, just the front one. The brake blocks are the same on both.

Nope. Just checked the pipes and they are both the same.

Holding both brakes in my hands looking at them I can't find a single difference, which is what I would've thought, but why on earth go to the trouble of marking them front and rear if they are the same. It's dead annoying! ;0)

i once bought some german militry issue socks (un issued) and although the cut was identical, they were embroidered with LINKS and RECHTS. now i know that once theyve moulded to your feet, they always fit better on the same foot, so was this the reason why?- or that they make soldiers take their boots off, and check, just to see if theyre dumb enough???
