dents in rim tape?

Had a puncture on my way home, my first on this bike and have taken the rear wheel off and taken off the tyre and inner tube.

What I've noticed which is worrying me, and I hope it isn't something I should worry about, is there are dents in the rim tape under each spoke. I've noticed that the old inner tube has little nipples on it as a result, and I am concerned there's something wrong with my wheel which caused the puncture.

Any thoughts? I'll try to upload a photo shortly if this helps.

Sounds pretty normal to me. Over time the high pressure in the tube is constantly compressing the rim tape against the spoke nipples (or holes in some rims), the tape thins and a small amount of movement causes the tube to start to wear. It's a common source of P*nctures that are often hard to trace.
Solution is new rim tape. Make sure that there are no sharp spokey bits protruding (file as required), fit tape and go! Alternatively if you're a cheapskate like me just cover what's there with electricians insulating tape and carry-on.
