Hi, I just bought an almost new old Peugeot road bike.
In a very silly way I managed to dent the fork a tiny bit.
I wonder, firstly is it dangerous to continue riding like this-the dent is rather gentle?
If not, is it possible to repair it?
And if not again, what replacement fork should I get. Is any e.g. reynolds fork of the right length OK?
Many thanks for any help!
Best wishes,
Ilin

I would post a photograph if possible. We all have different ideas of what a "tiny bit" and "rather gentle" represent.

Bent not dent!

Looks like it would throw the geo out and the wheel wouldn't sit properly.

Carbolite is pretty sturdy stuff, so a framebuilder could probably straighten it out on a jig.

If not, then any 700c forks with a threaded steerer of the right length would do.

Yup, the straight tube attaching to the crown of the forks.

Mine are too big: could be cut down and re-threaded, but not really economical, bearing in mind a respray and postage.

Yes, the Ebay forks look good, but ideally you need accurate measurements to be sure the headset will fit properly: too long and the headset top nut will bottom out on the steerer and not secure properly; too short and the headset won't all go on.

However, headsets come in different "stack heights", so you do have leeway, but it would be less hassle to get forks that are a correct fit.

There looks to be plenty of interest, so I would cool your heels, measure up and be sure what you buy will work.

that's not a dent - it's bent!
That isn't something that just happens, like dropping an allen key onto them - what did you do?
