Daughter has broken a molar which hs to come out. Intention is to replace by an implant.

Anyone have any experience (...is there a dentist in the house?...).

any recommendations in central London?

(don't worry I am the one normally issuing the caveats about medical advice from random strangers on the internet)

My wife had one done about a year ago it has been fine. My secretary had a couple done which weren't. My wife went to an implant specialist, my secretary went to her dentist.......
I believe but am not an expert that they are more likely to succeed on the lower jaw because the sinus restricts the depth of the mounting post on the upper jaw.

A friend of mine has been seeing a very expert expert in Woking for her implants, too far away?

My dentist in Epsom is excellent otherwise

I've got a friend whose Cousin is a cosmetic dentist in Harley Street, can try to get details

Don't expect any change from £3k for an implant.
With molars, I'd be wanting a lot of reassurance about nerve damage, she'll need to also budget for a CT scan. That's what my dentist told me, I opted for specialist root canal and a crown rather than extraction and implant after discussion

Something about having my jaw drilled while awake made me very very squeamish!

Aren't they the teeth right at the back? I had one out as a kid, probably did my other other teeth a favour by making enough room for them! I've had to have three wisdom teeth out over the years too due to lack of space

If her existing dentist doesn't do implants, perhaps she could ask for a recommendation or referral

One of my friends had got dental implant in Canada. She is fine now, it would be difficult for few weeks after placing the implants, but afterwards they will get used to it. I think it would be better if you consult with your family dentist, they may be able to guide you to an experienced doc. You should be very careful in making decision as there are chances for the implants to be unsuccessful. Also, it would be best if you could take your daughter to a dentist in your own locality as you need to go to that dentist long term for aftercare.

There is a firm in Portishead called Dentale that is a college for dentists learning to do implants. They do it for about half the price. A bit of a trek, but i saved £1600 on my implant.

Edit Here is the link

I had a full upper set of implants done a few years ago. Lots of difficult work in my case but all worked out well and no-body realises they are implants. Well, except for you lot now! Total cost for all the top teeth was about 10K. A retirement present to myself. So you might get the work done a lot cheaper outside London. I would definitely recommend my dentist. I'm in Maidstone which is commutable but I guess if she has already made a decision then she won't want to change it.
