I snapped the tip of a presta valve while trying to correct its bend the other day. Luckily I had it pumped to 80psi before so should last a little while. Now I've obviously got to replace it but how would I go about deflating it now the tip has gone?

You could try pushing a thin poking implement down in to the valve to push on the stub left from the snapped off bit.

I rode around for ages with a broken valve, pumping it up when needed (but carrying a brand new tube with me, just in case). Finally, it was pumping more air in that dislodged the inner part. Cue much gushing of air! Try giving it a good blast of air and see if you can manage to launch it somewhere into the depths of the tube!

The bit below the tip that broke off should have two flat sides. It screws into the main tube - so a pair of pliers will undo it.
