Thanks all - appreciate all the input and I suppose I'll have to drag myself to a decent opticians in the new year.

Apparently my old dear uses a independent in the town that shall not be named that's run by the son of an old family friend; so might try them.. although generally I try to avoid said town if at all possible..

I was about fifty when I realised my eyes needed a bit of help. Luckily my eye are of similar focus, so I can wear 'ready readers'. Obviously no good if your prescription varies with each eye. At 71, I've been getting regular two yearly tests and was using Specsavers for several years.
However, I got fed up with seeing a different optometrist each time I went and getting varying ranges & types of tests, apparently depending on the experience & fancy of the respective optometrist.
I latterly switched to an independent firm that my late mum suggested ad she's been going there for over sixty years - ! ^_^
Since then, I've always had the same optometrist and she's able to keep the more personal touch and knowledge of her patients ocular history which I believe is important. :okay:
