i came on here for the first time a few weeks ago to explain i am buying my first bike in about 30 years using cyclescheme. i have tried 5 bikes and have it down to 2:

trek fx7.5 v specialized sirrus elite

to a novice like me, they feel very similar and have a similar upright seating position which i liked.

the bike will be mostly used on roads, i'm not particularly after a flying machine, hence the flat bar rather than a drop bar. i'm after keeping fit and enjoying the ride

i would just like peoples opinions on the two in terms of components, durability, warranty issues etc

thanks for any input

Very similar bikes spec wise, comes down to personal preference really, both are very nice bikes though.
Only thing I'd change about the sirrus is the stock tyres, had them in 23mm on my secteur and they were rubbish.

Good choice, I prefer the looks of the Trek although can you confirm if the 2010 7.5 has those 24 dual spoked wheels as I really don't think they are a good idea for what the bike will be used for.

Great bike, lovely frame and components, allot of people at my work has also chosen that model, enjoy.

Good Choice ... i would've had the Trek as well

I have both. There's not much in it. However the Trek has the better frame and finish. The paint doesn't chip so easily and it's stiffer IMHO but strangely gives a better ride. Enjoy.
