i am looking at a set of good value wheels.

i currently have mavic cpx 22 on my Spesh Sectuer Elite and looking to see if a decent upgrade is possible without spending a fortune.

still want something pretty durable as well as make the bike feel a bit livelier. I am a big guy and aint light so need something tough- The Mavics have been pretty tough- some pretty poor roads round my area- dont know how good they are good though

The Fulcrum Racing 5s are an excellent, strong wheelset, not the lightest maybe, but very resillient, and roll very well.
I've been more than pleased with mine, and I'm not exactly the lightest rider you'll encounter.........

The CXPs are tough but heavy. If you are on a budget then Mavic aksiums are decent, and shimano R500 or R510 are an improvement.

If you can got to 450-ish then the mavic Ksyrium are strong and light.

I put some Fulcrum 7's on my Secteur Elite about 6 months ago. I noticed the difference immediately and the wheels have performed fine so far.

I put a set of Shimano R501 on my hack (Carrera Virtuoso) and that also made a big difference. I paid £102 for the Fulcrums and £75 for the R501's.

Bought some fulcrum racing quattro's recently from bikediscount.de £218 delivered.
Very nice wheels, roll really well, come with rim tape and skewers. Bargain if you ask me

as what jowwy said. Get some handbuilts.
placing the order for wheels from dcr in the next 10days hopefully - but switching the hubs from novatecs to shimano 105's

so its the velocity a23's, with sapim race spokes and 105 hubs - built in 28/32 ( rims are 23mm too, so should be a nice plush and smooth ride)

I now have 105 hubs on my Defy. What I really really like about them is how quiet they are compared to a lot of road bike hubs. They roll very smoothly.

I bought some Racing Quattros based on many good reviews, however, mine arrived both slightly buckled and the rear wheel requires truing after every few rides - in my experience they are quite rubbish but at £210 a pair I shouldn't have expected much else really
