Decathlon toolset - views?

I ask as I need a kit abroad and it may be easier to get one from Decathlon rather have one shipped from the UK.

Everything you'd reasonably need is there, except a small simple bladed screwdriver.
Lidl and Aldi infrequently sell similar (possibly lower quality) at about £25 iirc.

Still trying to figure out if it has a peg spanner for the back of chain rings - Decathlon's web site has always been a pig.

Anyone got hands on experience of this one?

Looks better than the Aldi ones the main things you need though are 4/5mm Allen keys. if you get a decent multi tool though with every Allen key on a screwdriver tyre lever and chain tool you don't need much else I got mine on eBay for about a tenner and I've used it for well over a year and nothing else to build my bikes with tool wise.

Er, you manage to service your bikes using just allen keys? Crank removal? Bb removal? Cassette removal? Etc.

Which one is yours - how many pieces? Are they all the same quality - one I see is described as "heavyweight" supposedly "pro quality".

Will check out their delivery charges - nor as easy to see as some suppliers - you have to "pretend" to buy to get a delivery quote I think.

The former has free delivery supposedly to an Italian island though gawd knows how much it will cost them.

Erm it's in a black case, yes probably the one you linked Didn't cost that much though, £40 or so on sale

Tbh the types of job you describe are ones I'd get the LBS to do. Have used the chain whip and cassette tool though. Failed miserably to remove the crank but that's down to being feeble and not wanting to over force

many thanks for the reply vickster - prefer to do things myself to be honest - cheaper, faster (can wait a week for a bike shop), know it's been done properly. The local Italian bike shop sees enough of me anyway because of the Dahon Speed Pro's god awful wheels. Do persevere with the crank removal - I'd say removing cranks is one of the easiest jobs.

There's no way I would do a better job than any bike shop, including halfords! I'm a firm believer in paying trained professionals to do anything mechanical, technical, fiddly, time consuming...

Buy the the bits you need individually for your bike,custom and less space or cost

Looks like it does, bottom front left, or bottom front right on the above view.

I guess the best advice is the old advice - buy good tools individually - as and when you need them.

I have read your other thread: would it not be easier and cheaper to put all the stuff you need in a small suitcase and check it in?
I gather that you already have the tools you need.

thanks for the reply pat but I have a ton of stamps so it is effectively free.

For a fair while now I have usually flown without hold baggage.
