Hi everyone!
This weekend (the 24th - 25th) DecAid is holding a nationwide event honouring ten years in Afghanistan and the sacrifices made by the servicemen and women of our Armed Forces. The plan is to cycle 3550 miles on static bikes! That's London to Kabul! The event will be taking place in ten cities, details of which can be found here: DecAid Ride2Remember
We appreciate that it's obviously quite short notice, but if you're free this weekend, why not pop down to your nearest event and help to raise money for some great charities? We're mostly interested in everyone having fun, rather than putting in a punishing performance, so the emphasis is all about cycling as much or as little as you like! We recommend getting together a small team so you can 'tag' each other in and out over the course of say, an hour - if you'd like to do more or less, just get in touch!
The charities that DecAid raises money for are the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA Forces Help) and the British Limbless Ex Service Men's Association (BLESMA). The DecAid appeal was set up by members of Exeter University Officer Training Corp with the intention of raising money, and raising awareness of the war in Afghanistan - particularly amongst under 25's.
There is no requirement for sponsorship, but if you would like to raise some money we recommend trying to retrospectively collect £1 a mile. Sponsorship forms are available for this if requested.
