When to use my bike this morning to find the pun**ure fairy had visited me overnight! Only realising when I was just leaving the house. Bother I thought and took the car. Fixed it on my return home and just left the wheel a while before refitting. I heard an almighty bang, the inner had blown the outer off the rim! This happens 10 mins after the LBS has shut. Glad this didn't happen on the road. Now it's off to Halfords to buy a pair of new inners.

I've done that one... but I do see one fault in your dealing with the fairy .... you should have that n+1 bike ready for such an emergency (though thinking about it ... my spare has spiky tyres on it still ...).

A nice idea, but it's not always possible!

In my case, bike #1 was out of action for a prolonged period of time after a devasting visit from the botto* bracke*, chai*, cassett* and fron* mec* fairy, and as soon as that little lot were fixed, her evil twin the whee* hu* fairy attacked bike #2!

Just returned from said emporium and with inner tubes. They had an 18" Carrera Subway 8 for £150 in their clearance sale but there's a catch. The rear hub needs fixing which will they can do in a nearby branch. Being a poor (well mature) student I shouldn't buy bike n+1 but ... But as summerdays suggested it would be a good idea to fix the old bike since I didn't have to go that far today.
