Getting old but not past it

Had a good run today and on my way, noticed another biker on a MTB, like me, quite a long way off. So set myself the task of catching him up.
It took me a while but eventually came up behind him. I never raised my speed. Just steady as you go. He turned around ,saw me and proceeded to accelerate. "Fine" I thought. I let him go away again but within a mile, he slowed right down and came to a stop. I just smiled intrinsically and carried on at my own pace. Never saw him again after that.
I am 60 and he was about 30. Dead chuff with myself. Made my day. Did 27 miles all together.
