I've been thinking about getting a video camera for the bike since seeing the stuff that my mate John has recorded, but I've been reluctant to invest several hundred quid in one as it's pure indulgence. However, my lovely wife was keen on the idea too so I've been looking at the offerings available. John pointed out that DCS gave a 10% discount to Cycle Chat members so it's a no-brainer to use them. After an exchange of emails with Ed Mayne at DCS, including him sending me some raw footage to view, I settled on a DCS Bullet Cam at £100 less 10% + postage. Ordered this yesterday morning and it was sent Special Delivery so I got it today. Initial thoughts are that it works well enough for me, perhaps not as sharp as some but at the price I'm not complaining, and the sound is pretty good for such a tiny piece of kit. Lots of mounting options included in the box too. Battery life may be an issue at 1.5 to 2 hours, but I've got a little usb charger than runs off AAA batteries so I'll use that at a push. Unfortunately, the camera won't record whilst charging, which is a shame as I'd then use the usb box to power it.
Whatever the overall performance of the camera I'd just like mention that the service from DCS was excellent, very quick, all questions answered in depth. Nice folks to deal with!
