It looks a bit steep at first sight, but then you realise that it comes with panniers etc, and is virtually new according to the description. They are on some dealers' sites discounted to the £950 he quotes.

I don't know how easy it would be to get to Taunton from where you are (I suspect not too bad!), but if were buying a bike in that price bracket I would want to see for myself what I was bidding on.

From watching various bikes on Ebay, putting a high starting price means that he won't get any speculative bids, if any at all. He's determined not to lose too much money on it, and he's honest enough to tell you it cost him £950, not claim the £1200 RRP the 2008 was in at.

However rare they are, it's a used bike, and what he's asking is high. If you're prepared to pay it, and do without warranty, or LBS goodwill backup, then go for it, but watch until the last minute and bid late. I wouldn't want to pay much over the £700 personally.

He's asking what I think is top wack for it. For that sort of money I would expect it to be perfect. Audax rides, particuarly the sort you need touring bikes for, can easily be 200+ miles long. Even though this bike might of only been used for half a dozon or so rides it still might have clocked up well over a thousend miles / have some badly worn part on.

The bikes 22.5 and has a semi sloping top tube. I would of GUESSED that it is too big for you. Have a search of the net / ask the seller for the virtual / corrected top tube length. Anything over 56cm is probably going to be too big for you.

I'd go along with that - the bike is too big for you. Another one will come along, in your size, soon enough.

Thanks for the replies. you've helped me make up my mind. The price + Distance away and frame size makes it all too much of a gamble at that price. I think I will pass on this one!

I'm 5ft 9 and have a 54cm Ultra Galaxy so I'd definitely say it will be too big for you (but it looks like you've come to that conclusion already).
