Just cleaned my wife's old light metallic green Dawes Fleur racing bike, a 5-speed rear Suntour freewheel with a down-tube shifter and a single chain ring.... it's 38 years old which we bought new in 1982 from Steeles of Gosforth. It is completely original even down to the original Weinmann brake blocks- she never took to it so it was buried in the garage- just a bit of rust on the chrome wheel rims which came off with wire wool. Even had the square front Phillips battery light on the front fork bracket and a chromed bell.
It's going to the Byker Recyk'y'Bike charity shop on Wednesday to raise whatever they can for it- prices on ebay varied from £235 to around £65 so hoping they'll get around £50 or maybe a bit more for it.
