my little brother is doing the 100 miles jobby. Number 2710. About 6 foot 7 tall. As you pass him you might say 'Simon told us you were crap on the hills...'

Yes, I'm hoping my breakfast stays put...my number is 4571.
Might still have your mobile No., in which case I'll text you when we get to the finish and we can all wheeze at each other.

The lengths you'll go to just to avoid the hot and humid ride of doom......good idea mind, I may, er, forget mine;)
Baggy showed me the profile and the route, we are so going to die...

I'm a bit annoyed about the helmet thing. The initial blurb (when we signed up) just said 'we strongly advise you to wear one'. Fine, thanks for the concern. The latest information said that, as the ride was under UCI rules, they were obligatory. I'll be more than a little peeved if someone tells me I can't take part because of it. Anyway, they don't own the roads so I'll just tag along regardless.

Good fun gruel and grimp there. Apparently the rumours are true, and a rider was indeed air-amboed after having a discussion with a cattle grid. I need new brake blocks after making mine smoke on the Holne descent!

After suffering from "ohmygodI'mgoingtodieonthehills" nerves before setting off, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was an excellent route, really well marshalled, and I enjoyed the spectecle of a queue for the gents that was much longer than the queue for the ladies . The cheering supporters along the ride really boosted the spirits as well (especially the TdF inspired style Dartmoor Devil who patted Chuffy on the botty ).

Some of the descents were a bit hairy, coming off a hill on to a wet cattle-grid is one of my least favourite on bike things, really hope that the rider is ok. There were a couple of times when I was belting downhill and praying that Mrs. Sheepy was not going to sproingle across the road...

Chuffy and Mr.Gates missed out on bronze medals by two paltry minutes due to a diversion at the feeding station to procure a pasty (vitamin P). Being a gurl, I benefited from the extra time allowance and squeaked into the bronzes

Am NOT looking forward to the event photos, due my optimistic layer of suncream and extreme hillage I was streaming with er, "glow" each time a camera came into view.

So thats good news.
Unlike some of the pictures of me going up the hills, which are less good news:biggrin:
Excellent, glad he's on the mend.

I'd like to thank you for posting your ride number so we can all look at your photos ;)

Still, my pics are worse - I'm tempted to buy one so I can stick it a copy on every pie-shop counter across Devon...

I was tempted to buy a copy of mine for my Mum (aww) until you pointed out that that cheekbone was a watermark. Bah! Spoilsport!
