Does anyone know what his disability is? I saw him on the BBC this morning, he appeared to be able bodied, having apparently got all his limbs, he did not appear to have any learning difficulties or other condition such as CP, is he partially sighted or has he got hearing difficulties?

Well done 4 golds and a Silver.

Waffles, I haven't seen him walk, only cycle, which is undeniably impressive, He just seemed to be fully able bodied this morning on the BBC but then he was just sat in his front room, just goes to show how wide and varied peoples disabilities can be.

I've just been into the Scope shop, where I purchased a rather nice Rohan Fleece top.

Why do always feel like youv'e told me off?!:ohmy:

Hi, I am Darren's brother and look after his website.

Yes, Darren has Cerebral Palsy, which is neurological disorder that affects motor control. It not caused by problems with the muscles or nerves, but rather with the brain's ability to adequately control the body. Cerebral Palsy can be caused by injury during birth, although sometimes, as in Darren's case, it is the result of later damage to the brain.

As news items tend to be clips from his Cycling or talking head interviews it does not come across in the media.

I'll be updating the about page ;)

It shows how cycling can really help some people just to get about. I turned up at a youth hostel once, and rode the last few yards alongside a chap also kitted out for touring, and obviously a far fitter cyclist than me. Wasn't until we dismounted and walked into the building that I realised he had trouble walking.

Thanks. I try and catch up with him once a month to go through his site stats, he reads a few forums but never signs up on them.
