Hmm. Looks interesting and a great cause.

Like you, I ride some of those roads although I've not done all of them and haven't done that distance.

I'll keep an eye on this thread and their website.

My capabilities are a lot lower than yours Richard but as it passes near my home I'm certainly interested although it would be the 'hard' route rather than the 'extreme' if I did!

I'm out this weekend with a few other CC members so I'll see how I do on my first 40 miler!

Ahh!, not sure you how you can say that, I'll suffer as much as anyone else, if I do it
I well remember the first time I rode over the The Strines, south-north, I doubt I'll forget........
Bottom gear of 42x21 didn't help:wacko:

42 x 21. That would have been hard...extremely!
Yes, very.
That's why I still remember it
All the way up that climb, from crossing Ewden Beck, up Ewden heights, then the climb from the (A616) cross-roads, up towards Cubley

The last time I was down there, was a couple of years ago, to run a fell-race, starting at Broomhead Hall, & ascending to the trig-point to the east of the road (& higher), then back down

They have changed the route as the Holmfirth Food and Drink Festival is on at the same time: -

Update: We have had to reroute our course to avoid Holmfirth this year. The new route includes spectacular Marsden Moor and Didley* Reservoir approach to Holme Moss. If fact now we’ve made the change we don’t know why we didn’t go that way to begin. This now mans the Extreme Route is 79 miles and the Hard Route 57

*I think they man Digley Reservoir not Didley!

DCLane

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
It's an interesting route; I've done it on a quiet Saturday morning a few times stopping at a couple of cafe's en route.

I won't be riding it as a) I'm doing the 200k Venetian Nights audax the day before and b) it's roads I tend to ride normally on. However, hopefully it'll go well.

Yes, that climb up to Cubley is a bit vicious (I've never ridden up there - only ever in a car)
I've run alongside, almost, during the Broomhead Chase Fell-Race
That starts at Broomhead Hall, crosses Ewden Beck, & climbs to the Trig point (higher than the road) - 800+ feet of climbing, & it's only a 3 mile race (straight up & back down!!!!!)

Reads like fun, & some nice pictures
Glad you enjoyed it
