Spotted this earlier today - friction from cables rubbing against the forks has started to gouge into the forks themselves. Should I be concerned? The bike has probably done about 2500 miles so far.

Nothing to worry about. You should put some some tape on the frame to protect the paintwork from the cables.

This is something I learnt far too late with my Secteur. Seems pointless now it's so scratched and battered from all year round commuting duty, will certainly be using some frame protection if I ever get round to buying my next bike

Besides stickers for the frame, you can also get little grommets which slide onto the cable outer and stop them damaging the frame. They seem a beter long term option as stickers on my mtb gradually lifted and just looked a mess while other bikes have the grommets which seem to be nearly invisible and maintenance free.
