DA/XTR Chain on Sora groupset

Howdy,

I've recently built up a new frame with components from my old bike. The new things in the drive train side of things are BB, cables (inners and outers) and chain.

The cassette is a HG50 12-25 9 speed with Sora 3500 compact crankset.

I recently fitted this chain (http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-dura-ace-or-xtr-9-speed-chain/?sku=4000002794) and it skips when in the small ring at the front.

I'm wondering if this 9 speed chain is compatible with a lower end 9 speed groupset before I go to a shop to see if the brand new derailleur hanger is bent. The cassette looks good to the eye and I change chains quite often.

Yes it is compatible, and I bet your cassette is worn. Looking good to the eye does not tell you it's worn.

If a new chain skips, then the cassette is worn
