Looking for bike lock (s) to secure 2 or 3 bikes on bike carrier.
Touring in France for a couple of weeks, I need to secure bikes for at least 2 nights on carrier, unfortunately no other choice.
I've been looking at Arbus Granite X plus 540, would this be big enough to secure around 2 frames?
Any thoughts much appreciated.

Arbus Granite X plus 540,
@vickster is that the lock you have used on both our bikes?

Forgive me asking an obvious question, but how far between each bike when they are on the carrier? Tailgate rather than roof-mounted, presumably?

Mines 240 and if you want one thats not piddling I'd go for the bigger one.

300mm looks a better size for 2 bikes.

If it's a tailgate carrier and they want the bikes, they'll cut through the carrier and take the lot. This commonly happens to motorhomes in Europe. A chain down to a point on the chassis helps as well as covering them with a bike cover. You want to make it too much faff to be bothered with. I'm not sure of your circumstances but I can't imagine any I'd be comfortable leaving bikes on car with perhaps the exception of camping but hotels, guest houses etc... I'd take them off and in.

Unfortunately with the advent of battery powered angle grinders if they determined nothing will stop them.

True, but the more difficult you can make it for them, the more chance you have of keeping your bike(s). The point about stealing the carrier and bikes together (by simply cutting through the straps) is a valid one - no angle grinder required.

I remember many years ago leaving my car outside a Novotel in France with 4 bikes on the roof, I used a cable threaded through all the frames and then through a gap in the passenger windows. They were still there in the morning.

Presumably you'll be sleeping in a hotel room at this point? If so put the bikes in the room too?
