What was surprising about this article and the posted comments is that it focused on 'reputation' and 'slagging off' of all cyclists.

IMHO its more than that: RLJing is the butterfly, some dead cyclist is hurricane. Over sustained periods drivers who experience poor road use by cyclists will take less care when they encounter all cyclists. Eventually this will lead to accidents, some of them fatal. Many cyclists that have near-misses with drivers who, when challenged, have cited other cyclists as a defence.

Well personally if I see a cyclist do something silly I just think they are a pratt, move on, and treat the next cyclist as I find them. One person' indiscretion doesn't mean I assume all cyclist are idiots.

It's the same with cars, just because you see people driving like idiots I don't assume they all are.

But each to their own.

You raise a very interesting point. I have to admit that I am so used to being ignored by drivers that when I am acknowledged by one I am surprised. Same principle as you describe above.

Lets just hope that Chaos Theory does not prevail in this case.
