Interesting

I'm with the CTC and have the third party insurance, where am I supposed to get fully comprehensive?

Will I have my cycle confiscated and crushed? and will the police put a no insurance - no bike sticker on my cycle to send the message out to all those dodgy accident causing cyclists out there.

What a load of tosh. First, there is the rpoposal that all bikes should have a registration plate. Clearly by someone who has NO IDEA how many bikes are in circulation in UK - millions and millions!
So, witjout a plate ID is nil, and I can't see anyone but the daftest police force (suggestions on an A4 sheet) setting up "insurance checks". They can't enforce it properly with all the motor vehicles, so not a chance when William Shakespeare of Dull St Stratford on Avon gets stopped and does not have his certificate. The whole idea is silly, BUT it is the best plan to join BC or CTC and make sure you are third party covered. In my own experience, BC are better on the legal support side, but you pays your money and takes your choice. BC, I think, is £24 a year for basic mambership which include insurance and legel help - bargain compared to the hundreds for motor cover!

I don't understand why they say it would it have to be comprehensive? Motorists only have to have third party cover legally.

This sounds very much like cash registers ringing in the ABIs ears.
