Very sadly towards the end of my ride yesterday, I saw the Air Ambulance land in a field to attend an accident. I had not long previously noted that the helicopter had been at it's base in Cosford.
The narrow lane was blocked completely by a large tractor and trailer. There wasn't anything I could do as far more qualified people that I were now on scene. As I turned around I could hear a land ambulance arriving as well.
Alas, their efforts were in vain. Although it got the road name wrong, a local news source reported the sad death of a cyclist in his 60s. The same report stated a collision with the tractor as the cause. RIP.
It has shaken me up a bit as I ride that road very regularly. My condolences to family and friends.
