Odd. The cyclist was going to have a word with the driver for parking on the footpath but the vehicle drove of before the cyclist reached him and subsequently the vehicle returned to attack the cyclist. Weird.

That sounds like a remarkably dumb thing to do! Especially at 10-15 at night.
Sounds as though "Thugs chase member of public in 4*4" would be a more accurate headline than invoking the cyclist tag

You don't need to be on a cycle to be bullied by 4x4 drivers ! I was driving home from my voluntary work with the NT and i had some dickhead in a Range Rover (drug dealer/pimp/wanabe footballer) bag of wallowing crap sitting on my bumper in a 30 zone trying to push me to go faster....sadly it makes me stick even more to the speed limit which in the end i won and said idiot realised Size does not matter !!!

Personally I never ride that route as it is utter pants and there is a traffic free alternative a mere few pedal turns away.

If someone does this to me while I'm driving I normally slow down to 20, then speed back up to 30 once I have slowed down the tailgater and feel that I can safely do so while leaving space with the vehicle in front. They usually get the message by the 3rd or 4th time.
