Yesterday i cycled along the main road at St Annes near Blackpool. If you've ever been there you can't fail to notice the amount of fine sand built up against peoples walls. It's also all over most roads, therefore in the cycle lanes. When i got back home i noticed my bikes tyres had the stuff in the treads. I ran my fingers over the chain and derailleur and felt a gritty sensation. I then washed the bike to get rid of the sand
The question is do you ever cycle where there's sand from the sea and if you do, do you wash your bike after or just leave it and accept it's part of riding a bike near the seaside?
This isn't my picture but it shows what i mean.
