Cycling socks

Hi all,

I recentky got back into cycling after many years. I am enjoying it and have switched to clipless pedals, however since I started using clipless pedals (my shoes are shimano spd sl) with what is probably basic cycling socks, I find my feet are very cold during the cycle session! I live in south west scotland but its not that cold. What socks would be recommended to keep my feet warm?

I don't have any cycling specific socks myself TBH, but if I mis-judge the temperature and wear my summer SHOES on the wrong days then my feet do get cold.

If I know it's going to be cold then I wear my winter BOOTS and all is well.

I use the thinny ones in colder weather, if you have circulation issues, may need the thicky ones ^^

And possibly overshoes or boots

Proper cycling shoes are in our weather: wear 2 pairs of socks or overshoes!

My feet are the first to go so I wear thermal socks and over socks / shoes . I really feel the cold as I have very little fat on me . I see people out in shorts and summer tops and wonder how they can handle the cold

I went to Middlesbrough once and saw people walking around in what felt like sub-zero temperatures in tee-shirts. I've also seen girls bar-hopping in Yorkshire wearing mini-skirts (and little else!) when I was freezing to death on my bicycle, in full winter clothes.

I must have thin blood!

If cold two pairs of socks, and over shoes.
@S.Giles you dont get quite the same wind chill walking, as you know, I cycle with two layers even in summer, top half anyway.

+ 1 for the planet x Merino socks - I now have 9 pairs of the thickie long cuffs (black), 2 pairs of the thickie short cuff (grey) and 4 pairs of the thin ones (green).

I wear two pairs of socks when its cold and its only ever my right foot that gets cold for some reason so maybe I need to wear three socks on that foot.

I don't think I'm a real cyclist I haven't got any cycling specific socks perhaps I'd better put some on my next 'want' list................................
