Cycling Shoes, Velcro, Laces, Neither, Both?

Never really though about it. But looking at all my cycling shoes/boots. They are all Velcro.

One pair lace and velcro
One pair velcro and ratchet strap

One set of purely velcro, one set of purely laces and my new pair are laced with a velcro band to hold the laces at the top

I only have road shoes, two pair have ratchets on the top and one pair all Velcro. I haven't had the Velcro long enough to know how they will hold up for the long term but I like them better so far. Easier to put on and take off.
