Evening all. New here and just got a new bike to get back in to cycling again. Looking for bit of info, how long should it take to go from beith to lochwinnoch along cycle track? Looking to have a wee trip out tomorrow and some general advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Welcome to CyleChat:hello:.
I don't know the answer to your question, but until someone with local knowledge comes along you could try planning your route on this website http://ridewithgps.com/ the basic route planning facilities can be used free of charge.

Hi and welcome!
I had a wee Goggle, it seems to be only 5 miles downhill along route 7 from Beith to Lochwinnoch, so about half an hour at my speed, you are probably faster.
I have ridden that path many times from Glasgow, it is smooth tarmac from Paisley, really nice to ride, there a cafe at Lochwinnoch visitor's centre.
Only snag seems to be you have a big hill to climb to get back home.
Here is the link on Google map.

Cheers for replies guys. Went with joining cycle track at kilbirnie and along into castle semple then back. Easy going but the climb from kilbirnie back up to beith was a killer. Gonna feel it in morning. Ha ha. Really enjoyed it, first of many. Took bit a bit longer as my firdt attempt but wasnt much out at 40mins. Something to work towards. Cheers again.

That's good to hear:smile:.
My thoughts........40 minutes is plenty for a first outing. It's not a great time of year for building up cycle fitness, but try to get out frequently for similar length of time and you will find you come home with fewer aches each time and your distance and fitness will gradually be increasing.
There are a number of cyclists from the Central Belt on this forum, they are often to be found in the Irn-Bru? Scottish Blethering Thread

I only ever went as far as Kilbirnie on the track, must carry on to Beith to attack your hill

You could stay on the track to the end at the back of Glengarnock, go round to your left and you come out half-way up the hill into Beith from Glengarnock. It's that much of a hill from there.
