Just recently learnt to ride a bike, yes i am slightly embarassed but growing to like it all the same, looking for somebody to go out cycling with and hopefully improve upon my limited skills.

Welcome jot1963. I'm too far away to be of use, but I congratulate you on learning to ride. A whole new road of fun stretches ahead. Well done.

Welcome to CC jot1963

I'm too far away to help you too, but wish you well in your new found interest.

A little often is the usual advice to help avoid aches when starting off, but your mileage will soon increase painlessly.

Welcome aboard and all that!

There are more than likely some members on here from that neck of the woods. It might be worth googling the CTC (Cyclists Touring Club) who are a very large cyclists organisation who cater for all types of riding, not just touring as you may think from the name.

They will have a local rep/organiser. They also set up and guide rides for all levels of ability. Give 'em a tinkle!

Hi Jot1963, There are a couple of clubs in St Neots you might be interested in. I'm sec for St Neots CC. We have a weekly club run on Sunday morning leaving from the Market Square. A couple of the old boys also go out for a shorter mid week run. We time trial on Thrusday evenings over at Abbotsley. Have a look at our blog http://stneotscycling.tumblr.com.

Alternatively, if you want something a bit more leisurely have a look at the St Neots Sunday Riders Club.

This is run by a local Sustrans ranger and do gentle 20-30 mile rides, usually with plenty of coffee / pub stops! more info at https://sites.google.com/site/stneotsrangers/home

happy riding!
