Hello everyone,my name is Steve I used to commute to work many years ago on my Claude Butler MTB which got relegated to the shed once I got my car. I've recently took it out of storage to start getting fit but after a conversation with some friends we decided to do a charity bike ride from the Midlands to Cornwall so now I've recently purchased a new road bike from "Halfords" from whom I received very good service after much deliberation I went for the Carrera TDF which I'm very pleased with . I currently looking at clip less pedals so any information or tip would be greatly appreciated was looking at the Shimano SPD range

:welcome:, what are you looking for out of the pedal, I use A530 which are single sided but flat on the other
Shimano_PD A530.jpg
Wiggle do them for about £30
I just got these replacement shoes from Halfords for £35

Whilst a M.T.B. shoe they are better than my old pair.

The ones I use as the pedal comes round the clip side presents itself at an angle like this / with the clip side being the left of the slash, or something like that, you then locate and clip in.

Though my other bikes have 2 sided SPD pedals, I do like the A530s. If you miss the clips, you simply lift your foot for one revolution when it's convenient and it magically turns clip side up! But when you really don't want to be hanging around in heavy traffic, say, on a hill from the lights, the platform side is secure enough to give you enough pedal grip and power.
