My friends don't care about who won the Tour of California and such
Or about the new 2009 range of bikes
Or about the annoying problem I have with my bottom bracket
Or about the amazing ride I had today

For me, it was the other way around. I reckon it's being a loner than makes cycling so enjoyable for me!

Its worse when a mate asks you about training, you tell them and they give you a blank look as if to say, why did you ride that far and why did you even go there:wacko:

I have similar experiences. "How are you?" / "Fine, bit tired" / "How come?" / "I did a little hilly 30 miler today" / "What, on your bike?" / "Yeah" / "Why?"

I tried to explain about how the tour de france worked ... she couldn't get why everyone was against lance armstrong.

Its not made me a loner though, i know alot of people through cycling, and i can be going along and start talking to someone riding that ive never spoke to before, and we are only talking because were on a bike, going the same way at the same speed.

Not saying I AM a loner....yet....
....but I've been turning down some nice invites lately just so I can get out on my bike or go on the club run etc

Who did win the Tour of California? I have no idea! Can't say I really enjoy watching cycling races...

I don't worry about it - it's actually a talking point now...'Oh you've cycled here' - rucksack and helmet/shoes in hand......... that's for meetings etc.

It can alienate you a little, but they are sometimes very jealous you can actually ride a bike for 10 miles, never mind in less than 30 minutes.....

Yeah, you see, that doesn't make me any the wiser....

What wrong with being a loner, anyway? Although in my case, I'm more likely to be with other people when I'm out for a bike ride, than on the average evening or weekend day.
