I have just moved from a hybrid onto a road bike and use it for commuting the 20 miles daily. Last week was my first week on it and have got used to the 'odd' riding position and non availability of immediate braking.

However on the way home in the rain i felt slightly nervous with my thin tyres in the wet. Both are quite smooth a continental ultra sport on the front and a specialized on the back.

How confident should i be that i wont have a spill?
Any tips for riding in the rain...should i revert to my hybrid with 700x35?

Thanx

Relax and take it easy, go fast and tense and you'll be off in no time.

Keep in mind that it is not possible to hydroplane a bicycle tyre ... unless you can attain 200 km/h. Less "tread" the better.

Just watch out for stuff like wet leaves, cow muck, manhole covers, railway tracks and painted road markings.

Practice braking from all positions.
