Hi,

Newboy here.

looking to challenge myself to the LEJOG.

I'm quite a sociable guy and like to chat to anyone. My mate is a great guy but not like me. Only likes a few people and hates clubs and things like that. is there an advantage to joining one?

Was wondering if our traing for LEJOG would be best done by ourselves or would it be advisable to joining a cycling club?

Does anyone recommend any good cycling clubs in Glasgow as I migh join one myself just for the craic.

It depends what you want from a club. There's clubs that do a lot of competitive stuff, a lot of audax, touring, time trials, social riding... and clubs that are not so hot in one or more areas of cycling.

Ways to find out about clubs.

1. British Cycling web site
http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/web/site/BC/clu/cluClubFinder.asp

2. CTT web site
http://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/clubs.asp
(by geographical district and alphabetic)

With both BC and CTT, just because a club is affiliated to it does not automatically mean you *have* to be interrested in racing. Some clubs have little interest in racing and more of a social element whilst others are seriously competitive...

3/ CTC
www.ctc.org.uk
Join and you will be linked to you 'local group' Just how friendly, welcoming and organised any particular group is as regards rides varies enormously.

The best thing is to find out what clubs are in your area using the links given and start getting in contact with them to find out what will suit you.

Hi there, If you are on the South side of the city, you would be welcome to come along to our club: http://www.ekroadclub.co.uk/homepage.htm
There's a few people in our club who are into the whole audax / sportif / long-distance thing.
