What I am looking for is a luminous (hi-vis) back pack with reflective strips for night time. I remember seeing a post on here about back packs recently however cant now find it and have googled to find what I am looking for with no joy. Can anyone help ??. Thanks.

I bought a hump cover thingy last week. Well made, looked good but, sadly, it was back on the shelves within an hour as it was too small for my rucksack.

I very rarely use a rucksack anyway, I have a small underseat-bag and a large container which fits in the bottle holder, which most everything goes into when I'm riding but I needed to get some shopping last weekend. I ended up putting the straps through a hi-viz, which worked well.

Good idea - hi viz waistcoats can be got in poundshops and the like, and off course you can also wear them as hi-vis on yourself.

Although I also don't use a rucksack, much prefer pannier(s) for any kind of weight and day to day use - of course, you have to have a rack....

Indeed, and I do have a rack on the bike I was on at the time, but the "shopping" was advent calendars. That meant I needed something which could hold A3 pages without wrinkling the corners and the pack was light and thin, even loaded.

On the Underground, we used to have hi-viz which was all secured by velcro in case something got caught in a passing train. Very handy as the shoulders just pull apart so they can by stuck on to just about anything.

Oh, that is very clever - and a fairly easy modificationto make to a cheap vest - the velcro might cost more than the vest if you got a poundshop one!

I may have to go out and get one to play with...

I guess it goes to show that if you put the right words into google, then you get what you are looking for. Many thanks to you all. I have ordered a high-vis basic thing - on the basis that there cant be such a thing as being too visible !

I've got a dhb elsted - it's black but with plenty of reflective piping and it comes with it's own bright yellow inbuild raincover...
+1 for the Elsted here. The rain cover isn't quite hi-viz (compared to an Altura waterproof) but when the darkeness comes it is better to have the lemon yellow cover rather than the black bag on my back.
