I got shorts and tights and they both have sponge pads after 10 or 12 miles my ass is really sore just wondering is it worth investing in shorts with gel pads or any recomendation

What shorts do you have? DHB ones are very popular. Maybe your saddle is also not quite suited to your bottom

Ha ha batwing lol yes I see ones that have like a butterfly shape pad on the ill try them but surely under normal circumstances I should hurt after 12 miles or so or is it a thing that I will get over lol

How long have you been cycling for? What is the saddle like? An hour on cheap shorts and a poor saddle could well be uncomfortable

Hello Paul,
How long have you been riding your bike? I ask because it took me about 300 miles to achieve comfort on my new Boardman Road Race. At first I found the original saddle desperately uncomfortable after 16 to 20 miles, so I bought a s/h Charge Spoon. This was a bit better, but I then bought a s/h Selle San Remo which has a gel softened surface. I carried on with this for quite some time until I eventually gave the original saddle another try. This time it was fine, and has been in use ever since I'm glad to say. I got to this happy state by undertaking a good deal of shortish (up to 20 miles or so) rides to toughen up my derriere and get it suited to the saddle. I can commend the process.

Try adjusting your seating position during your ride. I'm also new to road biking but have found moving back and forth on the saddle during rides helps

I've found the Tenn shorts to be very good, they've got a very wide and soft padding to them, and I've found they are the only ones to really fit properly.
