i ride a recumbent trike so i have lots of issues with the trike being as wide as some of the paths. gates, bariers and bollards are a problem at times. But being on a uk cycle route and face lots of locked gates. does anybody know if there is a standard lock and if a key can be obtained from annywhere?? i carry a RADAR key but there is not as many RADAR gates as there should be in my opinion.

(RADAR KEY = is a key that is ment to open all disabled access doors and gates)

How on earth did you get a RADAR key for your recumbent? Anyway the ones I've seen are the same as radar e.g. York. I strongly disagree with the system. Would thought however that you'll have just as many problem with the weird myriad of gates and barriers.

RADAR keys are pretty easyto get hold of.

We shouldn't really be using them though if we don't meet the criteria for one IMO. But remember that some cyclists choose trikes because they do fit the bill.

Precisely. Easy solution. No radar gates and stop limiting access to things. York now give them out under deposit for "resident" cycle access. A ludicrous situation.

Read the OP's sig.

I was just going to post that, instead I'm just agreeing with you again. Our posting clocks must be temporarily aligned. That's OK, I hate it when it's aligned with Bonj though.

I hate those ones where you have a large and small sort of "n", my pannier gets stuck on them. Been in Hartcliffe and there were loads of them to go through the parks, then I realised I could just cycle around the park - far easier.

Presumably nromal recumbrants must find them difficult too? let alone parents with trailers. Not very inclusive.

Now, now, where on earth did you get the idea that cyclepaths were meant to be inclusive? Surely they are there merely to tick local authority boxes....

The thing is I think they think they are doing a good job?

Sadly so, in some cases.

Reminds me, I must fill in my York, Cycling City questionaire. Although it's all about "Where can we provide facilities" - and as we know facilities aren't the be all and end all of encouraging cycling.
