I took this picture on the Taff Trail as it passes the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff.

I know the blue sign indicates a path shared by bikes and peds but does the other sign mean bikes only or bikes not allowed?

The pathway where the cyclists are riding is Ped only.

Book them, Dano.

Signs with red circles (and white backgrounds) are mostly prohibitive,
A bike in a red circle means "no bikes".
A car in a red circle means "no cars"
A 40 in a red circle means "don't go over 40", etc.

I say "white backgrounds" cos there's also a yellow one that says "stop" in a red circle, and that presumably does not mean "when the lollipop lady waves this, keep going."

I've always thought the signs with a red circle around them are counter intuitive, and before you all weigh in, I do know what they really mean. I reckon the sign could be clearer, they don't shout out "NO!" to me ;)

It is rather confusing but the cycle trail is to the left and the route where bikes are not allowed is to the right.

Once you get used to the system ... red circle no ... you can work out virtually all the signs just by looking at them rather than having to know what it means. No vehicles I think is one of the hardest ones!!!

Ok thanks guys. Last time I rode on the trail I carefully stayed in the wrong lane tutting at cyclists in the correct one :-) It would be more obvious if the sign had a diagonal line through the bike ,similar to the no smoking signs.

**pedant mode** the sign actually means no cycling, that's a different thing from no bikes, which has no legal basis and people try and put up fake signs with the line through them. You're entitled to push your bike along any public footpath.

Animals except domestic pets. Hilarious.

You are quite correct about the "no cycling" v "no bikes". I beg humble apology

It's not that it's just that you get naughty people who erect fake signs to try and stop people from taking their bikes along a route in some capacity when they are allowed .

It is so confusing...

This local company thinks that a blue sign with cyclist and pedestrian, combined with a bicycle parked on the pavement means - CAR PARK!

He's only got 2 wheels in the bike lane so it must be a bike therefore:biggrin:

(Is he taking a photo of you taking a photo?)
