OK if you want to pick up an inner tube for a mountain bike - that's based on the ones in Oxford...

A couple of years ago I went into the one in Sawbridgeworth. They had a Falcon road bike for £250. I didn't have £250 but had £230. I offered it but they wouldn't budge on the price. Two days later they started one of their sales and the bike was being offered for £200, but I couldn't by then be bothered.

Most of their bikes are real BSO's though.

Having been in their Chelmsford shop all previous BSO comments are spot on. Having said that I wanted a quick pair of wheels to get me going and I've just ordered a Viking fixie from them. The manager seemed a bit perturbed (although polite about it) when I wanted to order in a 56cm frame rather than taking the 59cm they had in stock! He didn't seem to understand that a bike that's the wrong size will only cause comfort/ knee issues.

I've got to admit, some of their single speeds do look very nice, and reasonably priced. I especially like the Racemaster.

Which one did you get?

I have used Chelmsford and Benfleet branches, and bought online. Customer service was excellent. They seem mainly to sell BSO's for kids/very low budget commuters etc..

They are purveyors of BSOs. They make Tesco bikes look classy....;)
+1. I keep a cheap bike for riding muddy lanes in grotty weather and so I can lock it in town without worrying about it. My current knockabout bike is one of theirs: a Hawk Trakatak.

It's the nicest to ride of the cheap bikes I've had so far but it has been the least reliable by a loooong way. I've even snapped both pedals in half..... never done that before.

On the plus side, I now know how to replace spokes and true wheels which I probably wouldn't have learned to do without this bike. I just wish it didn't keep giving me so much practise.
