Hi All,

So my back wheel was moving side to side when cycling. Heard it could be the hub so today spent a couple hours taking it all apart, the bearings were fine but when i tried to put it back together the middle wasnt free spinning as it should..i though i put it together wrong but after taking one of the bits (see photo) and moving it around on the bearings it wouldnt move correctly and seemed to be warped...i think once i took it apart the placement of the bearing on the broken part came apart and now wont fit.

Any ideas what im looking for in terms of getting a replacement?

Thanks for your help

if in any doubt as to what to do, take it to LBS and ask if you can watch them whilst they do it

Yes a cone nut - and it appears quite worn. I think if you look carefully at your bearings when they're cleaned, you will see they're pitted too. You can buy complete new spindle sets with cones and bearings supplied fairly cheaply. It may be that the hub races are also worn, and if that's the case you will need a new wheel.
