Ok, so I'm not strictly a beginner. That said, I am new to Cube mountain bikes, and just sophisticated components overall.

I recently took delivery of my new baby - a 2012 Cube LTD. I've got a few questions hopefully people can answer.

1. The bike was partially assembled, but I had to fit the front wheel, saddle and handlebars. For the front wheel, which is of the 'quick release' type, how do I know how tight to do the bolt on one side before closing the lever on the other? I don't want the wheel coming off during a ride!

2. After tightening the side bolts on the handlebar stem, I noticed there was still some lateral movement, independent of the front wheel. I tightened the top headset bolt. Now I'm worried I overtightened it and that this could cause irreparable damage to the frame. Am I justified in worrying?

3. The saddle post is too long as common with the Cube for many. Is it ok just to take a hacksaw to this? There is also no line on the seatpost stem to illustrate how far the saddle post should go in. Can I put it on too far?

4. On the underside of one of the front shocks (Rox Shox Recon), there is a black cap that rotates side to side. I took this out and it has a pin attached. What is it? Is this where I adjust the air pressure?

5. Do I need a torque wrench to get going? Desperate to go out and ride, but worries about doing this before going over all the gear/brake bolts with the correct torque. Should I trust the dealer (Paul's cycles) or just bite the bullet and get the torque wrench?

6. Anyone know any LBS in Wishaw or Motherwell?

7. Is it safe to attach this bike to a towball cycle carrier?

Thanks in advance!

1. The bike was partially assembled, but I had to fit the front wheel, saddle and handlebars. For the front wheel, which is of the 'quick release' type, how do I know how tight to do the bolt on one side before closing the lever on the other? I don't want the wheel coming off during a ride! . It just need to be sung enough so you can close the lever with firm hand pressure - not hard pressure) It it's too tight and you wont' close it. Have a look how tight the rear one is

2. After tightening the side bolts on the handlebar stem, I noticed there was still some lateral movement, independent of the front wheel. I tightened the top headset bolt. Now I'm worried I overtightened it and that this could cause irreparable damage to the frame. Am I justified in worrying? You need to tighten up the top cat bolt first before you tighten the two side bolts. Tight the top cap just enough to take up the slack in the headset/steerer. I doubt you've caused any damage unless you've been doing up the bolts with a airtool

3. The saddle post is too long as common with the Cube for many. Is it ok just to take a hacksaw to this? There is also no line on the seatpost stem to illustrate how far the saddle post should go in. Can I put it on too far? It's normally how far out you pull can the seat tube that is the important as you'll put undue stress ion the seat tube So I'm not quite sure what you mean by putting it in too far, or the tube being too long

4. On the underside of one of the front shocks (Rox Shox Recon), there is a black cap that rotates side to side. I took this out and it has a pin attached. What is it? Is this where I adjust the air pressure? It's to adjust the rate of rebound - the pin is an hex key and it's that shape to mate with valve inside the leg. Check the manual - http://www.sram.com/rockshox
5. Do I need a torque wrench to get going? Desperate to go out and ride, but worries about doing this before going over all the gear/brake bolts with the correct torque. Should I trust the dealer (Paul's cycles) or just bite the bullet and get the torque wrench? That's up to you. Personally I don't use one
6. Anyone know any LBS in Wishaw or Motherwell? Can't help you there apart for suggesting trying yell.com

7. Is it safe to attach this bike to a towball cycle carrier? In what way? I stick mine on roof carrier with not problems
