Looking to spend no more than £700, the Trek Mamba's on the nose, the Cube's a bit cheaper, fairly similar spec - I've heard bad things about the frame on the Cube though. Has anyone got experience of either bike? I'm 6'4, and think I could get away with a 21" or 23" (I tried a 23" 2012 Mamba and that felt big but in a good way, I can't imagine the 21 would feel too small, the 29er's seem to just feel big).
Any tips/advice/experience to share? Is there something similar I should look for, perhaps a Scott? Im looking not for perfection, but something that's solid, works, doesnt need shed loads of maintenance and is going to be reliable above all - can't stand gear shifters that dont work properly, etc..
I'm a roadie at the moment (Orbea Aqua Tiagra), and dont know a great deal about shocks and the like. Looking for an MTB to keep me out of trouble but outside in the forest in the winter months.
