Crud Roadracer Mudguards for a Hybrid?

I was just wondering if these Crud mudguards would fit on a Hybrid bike?

I have a Giant Cypress FS Hybrid with no mods; there is a picture of the model here. I can't seem to come across any specs on the internet regarding tyre size etc. which is really why I'm asking for your help. The tyres only look to be slightly larger/wider than those of a road bike but is that difference already too great to be able to fit these mudguards?

According to chain reactions the max recommended tyre is a 700x28c, yours look a lot wider than that and finding mounting points would be a problem.

Ahh yes. My tyres are 700x40 which definitely makes them too narrow.

However, does anyone have any experience of these? At 700 x 45mm, they look like they'd do a job:

Yip I've got SKS guards fitted to the hybrid and I believe they are about the best guards you can get.

I brough a sirrus comp on Saturday and also full guards. Considered these cruds but the salesman said they would not be quite wide enough and I would get spray from the side. This was with 700 x 28c.
