Crud Road racers... any better alternatives to the cable ties?

Hi,

I have a set of these on the secteur and they work well.

I want to put a set on the Roubaix too, but that bike often gets taken in the car with both wheels off, so I would also need to take the guards off too, ot at least the rear one often. The cable ties on the ones on the secteur are re-usable ones but are awkward, the little lever on them doesnt always disengage and needs a small screwdriver inserted to help it along.

Are there any better or more robust alternatives?

Why take them off? I have them on mine (and transport my bike the same way), but have never felt the need to take the guards off - they're really flexible... No need to take them off IMHO

Because I have a Fiesta and it wont fit in the car with the complete rear section of guard on, so Im looking for a better alternative for the quick release.

I just use normal small cable ties that I cut off with a pair of wire cutters to remove the cruds, then use a new cable tie to reattached them. I get the cable ties in packets of 100 from a local wholesalers so they cost next to nothing.
