Creaky Headset

In my quest for doing more miles and learning more about my bike...I've come across a creaky headset. I haven't played with anything but yesterday it started creaking when either sprinting (on the drops bike going everywhere Cavendish style) or when turning sharply. I've put the bike on my stand to check it is this, and not the BB and all the noise comes from the bars (mainly the left shifter's end of the bars).

Before I take the whole lot apart and ruin my bike, I thought I should refer to those who know more about this business, what do I need to do to fix it?

without knowing what kind of headset it is ie quill type or Ahead type hard to explain how to do job but more than likely strip clean and re grease of bearings should sort it

Remove clean, grease and replace to correct torque stem bolts that hold the bars in place.
