Creaking saddle

My saddle creaks when mounting/dismounting and going over bumps, generally when pressure is applied.

It's quite a posh saddle. Fizik Arione with carbon rails. I was worried it might be clamped a bit too tight but thats unlikely because the bolts are a bit rounded off now and I can't tighten it much.

Any idea what it might be or if its about to break?

Why are the bolts rounded off? That worries me.

Good point. But I used the seatpost previously with a metal rail saddle.

I got the current saddle and a new seatpost at the same time. I thought I needed a zero set back post but I realised I needed setback so I returned to the old seatpost. I think the bolts got rounded off when I was using it with the old saddle.

Does that make sense?

It does make sense, but if the clamp can't be tightened properly due to rounded bolts, then it is a likely reason for the creaks.

One other, but less likely reason is a dry seatpost - did you grease the post when you refitted it (Alu post I assume) ?

Yes it is an Alu post and it was greased.

Maybe you are right that is isn't tight enough. But don't tempt me on that one. I've rounded off more than the bolts on my seatpost before!

I had the notion that the sound comes from the rails or where they attach to the saddle. If thats the case then there might not be much I can do about it.

I did mean the clamp holding the seat could be too loose if you have rounded it. But if you suspect the creak is from part of the seat itself, give it a squirt of furniture polish underneath and see if it improves.

It also sounds like you need to invest in some decent Allen keys btw. I recently fitted a new stem and the allen key kept slipping once it was reasonably tight, until I went and fetched on of my newer keys, then it was rock solid in the bolt and managed another 3/4 turn easily.

Interested to find this thread because I have the same saddle with the same problem.I have tried to resolve the issue as well but I have given up trying and I just try to ignore the squeaks now.
