Here's a piccie looking inside my BB i see there's a small line running diagonally across the inside, now the past couple of weeks i've had a really bad creaking noise coming from the BB area, checked all the usual suspects cranks, pedals, seatpost etc so could this be the cause or is it just a join in the metal ?

Just looks like a scratch - photo not that clear. Have you checked the cups are tight against the frame ?

Refit cranks and re-tension.

Check pedals are secure and also chain ring bolts are tight. TBH, I like to remove the rings, clean and reseat, then grease up the bolts and refit.

As Fossy says, just a scratch - nothing to see here, move along.

For some reason every noise sounds like it it is coming from the BB area.

Look for a pattern in regard to your contact with the bike.

Left foot, right foot.
Pedalling backwards, forwards.
Standing, sitting.
No hands, handed.
Left turn, right turn.

Combinations of the above.
I recently had a creak that was left pedal, handed...turned out to be slight headset movement and cables creaking...

I know that doesn't help, but it really could be anything, a process of elimination is the only way.

A good news update, last night removed the cranks, the front derailieur, rear mech, bars ,stem, saddle, seatpost, pedals, put all back together after a good lubing and all is quiet  still don't know what is was, but it least it's gone, i was 100% certain it was the BB  good job i don't work in a bike shop.
