hi there,

its my first time crashing on a carbon bike, the frame looks like its fine but the sram rival levers are abit worse off. As the crash has taken off the top layer of carbon off the levers is there anything i have to do with them, I.e treat them with something??

many thanks guys

If there's a possibility of the fabric being damaged they could be weakened, and they might need UV protection - the resin prides UV protection. Maybe you could find somewhere that would repair them?

Just stick some clear nail varnish or car touch up gloss on it. Oh and if fussy about the finish, use some car polish to blend in once dry - cosmetic reasons only. Are you sure carbon has come off - I would have thought the cleat coat has chipped.

Its only like scuffing up a nice pair of alloy levers.

If not happy, send the bike to me

As above - use some clear nail varnish to fill the scratch/chip. Use several layers and rub down (the repair) with very fine wet 'n' dry in between to stop it building up too much. Finish off with some T Cut and then decent car polish. With a little care and attention your repair will be almost undetectable!

Hi Madonerider, sorry to hear about your crash on the carbon bike, hope is all good now! Just read this with interest because my carbon bike is painted matt, and only the underside of the down tube appears to have a shiny bit on. I wonder how is the bike protected from the elements without the gloss cover on it.\
Maybe I should spread some SF50 on it when I go on sunny summer rides
