Crash damage?

Had my first crash tonight, front tyre lost grip on the road bike going around a corner at approx 15mph, what are the key things to check over on the bike before riding again?

First things first, are you ok?

Have a visual and touch-based check over the frame for fractures. Probably be ok. Then it's just top to tail, make sure everything's straight as it should be and check no appendages are about to fall off! Drive issues will probably come to light on next ride: my road bike fell over the other week and when I next rode it the formerly-spot-on gears were out of sync. (Still are )

I would go over the brake levers, gear shifters, brakes and seatpost with an allen key to make sure they're snugly turned. And check the wheels are on securely and spin true.

wheels still spin true, bit of road rash on quick release lever on rear wheel, but can't see or feel any kinks in the frame, chewed up the tape on handle bars and a bit of grazing to the tip of the brake lever, but even brakes still pull correctly.

Can't see any scratches on the frame, and I still had a foot clipped into the bike, and the pedal against the floor has barely any marks, so seems ok. when I stopped sliding on the road, so think I took most of the impact.

I am more concerned about the bike than my body's superficial injuries as bodies fix for free, bike repairs cost money ;)

Check you mudguards are still attached properly @PhilDawson8270 mine lost a fitting after a crash, never noticed till got riding again, then the blooming things flapped allover.
GWS!

No mudguards.

Many thanks, hopefully will try go out on it tomorrow see if it rides ok.

If you landed heavy, you may ache a little tomorrow and as you were still clipped in, look down the seat tube with the crank pointing straight up, check it is still as straight as it should be as these seem very strong, but do bend with a decent crash.

What material is the frame made of? If it's carbon, then it's probably terminal so chuck it in a skip, or better still chuck it my way! Only joking of course, but there is a serious point in that I am led to believe damage to carbon frame/forks might not always be obvious, so maybe better to have it checked out by a good bike mechanic.

The worse thing Doc is that I knew it was very cold, and I also knew it was wet, and had no idea why I still attempted to turn that quickly.

I was simply riding too fast for the road conditions and or my abilities  Either way, will try do another 10 miles today still.

Seemed I landed harder than I thought yesterday, cuts are sore, but shoulder is aching a bit
