I have had my Ridgeback just over 2 weeks and i have ridden it everyday for about 5 miles a day. Today i noticed a knocking noise from the crank when i apply pressure while riding but it's not there when riding softly.
Some said it was the bottom bracket but i don't know that that is. Is this something i can repair or does it have to go back to the shop which is a bit of a pain for me.

might be your peddals, same for my surly. My surly didnt come with paddals so shop put cheepies on to get me going. couple of days i had a "knocking" on the left leg on the downstroke. Bought decent pedals and it stopped. I passed on this advice at work to a another newbie as he was having the same problem, he bought new peddals and guess what? problem solved. Bottom bracket is where the pedal arm meets the frame btw.

Are you sure it is bottom bracket and not saddle, only 2 weeks old take it back as anything you do may void future warranty.

it feels like it is coming from the crank! change ya pedals as they will be a cheep pair. borrow some from a friends bike for ten minutes that you know are working fine. i guarantee its them.It will be the bearings inside.
